Transferring saved queries between copies of CMS Print  Minimize

When you save a query as described above, the SQL or instructions for the query is stored in a .qry file. If you have not renamed this file, it is called C:\Program Files\CMS7\DefaultRpt.qry and it will be the only .qry file in your CMS7 directory. All the queries that you save will go in this one file . So, if you want to give your saved queries to someone else in your organisation, what you do is rename this .qry file making sure that it is unique amongst your organisation. You can do this in Windows Explorer by right clicking on the file and choosing the Rename option. Now you can send this file to anyone else and they can view your queries. If you are doing this, think carefully about what name you give your queries as the names will have to make sense to other people. The people you send your file to will now have two qry files, their own and yours. They can easily swap between qry files by clicking the circled button on image below and selecting the appropriate file.

If you do this often and the people that you are sending your queries to are also creating their own saved queries, then there needs to be a little more thought. If you send out your hq.qry file or whatever it is called to a remote office and they then save a query into this one, the files are now out of sync and if the hq.qry file is sent out again from headquarters, the queries that were created locally will be overwritten. So, there maybe need to be some protocols like everyone has their own qry file and you only save into your own file.
