Large-scale raster images are normally supplied simply as TIF files (although other options are available) without any registration files. Before they can be used for any mapping purpose a registration file needs to be created. Within MapInfo this registration file is called a tab file, this references the data to the British National Grid, or indeed any other co-ordinate system required.

Tif 2 Tab is a Windows application that automates this conversion process. The program allows you to select directories and files using the standard Windows tools. When deciding which files to process you can choose individual files or complete directories.
