Air Photo Service for Archaeology

Picture taken by mini-plane of an archaeological dig

Aerial survey is an extremely cost-effective method for survey and base mapping of archaeological landscapes. Ultra high resolution, low elevation aerial imagery extends its applicability to individual sites and the documentation of ongoing excavations from the air. With a ground resolution of ca. 3cm at 50m minimum flying height, coverage of about 1 km² per flight, full geographical registration, orthorectification and 3D terrain modelling capabilities, our mini-plane service is perfectly suited for both site and small regional level aerial archaeology—at affordable rates that allow you to fly when you need to and as often as you need to.

Monitor crop stress patterns and landscape changes in different seasons and at different times of day.

Prepare detailed image base maps and surface models of your survey area without the need for time-consuming and ground survey and without the sticker price of LIDAR.

Create comprehensive pre-excavation site models and topographic maps and layout your excavation area from the air.

Document your ongoing excavation with seamless, high resolution, orthorectified image maps even of larger and landscape scale excavations. We can capture your site in less than an hour and you can view the (unprocessed) outputs immediately—before you remove the next stratum. Fully processed files, including digital terrain files can be provided in any mainstream proprietary format the day after capture.
