LibraryLink can be accessed from a range of places in CMS2000. It can be accessed from the Site window, the Feature, Objective, Factor, Attribute, Prescription, Project Plan, Annual Project Report or Event Report windows. From each of these windows, a single click will show all the linked digital resources as thumbnails in the LibraryLink Viewer. Clicking a thumbnail will then open the original document in the appropriate application (e.g. a .DOC file could open in Word). For instance, from the Annual Project Record form, you would click the Library Link button:

This would open the LibraryLink viewer showing all linked images and documents relating to that annual project record. Image or document details and keywords can also be viewed.

You can click on one of these images or documents to see it in full.

There are different levels of access to LibraryLink with most users being able to view the catalogue only. The site "Editor(s)" can enter the LibraryLink catalogue, using ThumbsPlus technology, to create and remove links to digital documents, load new files into the catalogue, edit document metadata, and carry out a wide range of image manipulation tasks. Local or networked directories/folders can be automatically scanned and added to the catalogue and keywords can be associated with files and used for searching.

As well as integrating with ArcGIS, MapInfo, and all exeGesIS applications, LibraryLink canĀ be supplied as a "Developer Kit", to be linked into any application that can issue a simple command with a Record ID and Type. This allows you to build LibraryLink into your own record-based applications. The LibraryLink catalogue data structure, and the functionality of the cataloguing/manipulation environment, can also be configured to meet your requirements so you can use it in any application - it is not confined to use with CMS making it exceptional value for money.
