Multi-User Editor and Utilities

New and improved multi-user editing, now for ArcGIS 9.0, 9.1 and 9.2. This version includes many enhancements to functionality, reliability and speed. Additionally there is a "Show All / Show Selection" utility included which improves the visualisation and output of queries and a "Mini-Gazetteer" which provides an easy-to-use navigation utility.

Multi-UserEditor

Permits multi-user editing of personal geodatabase layers (including annotation). The editing process is the same as normal, except that existing features to be edited must first be selected. When 'Stop Editing' is pressed, edited features are committed back to the source layer(s). Additional metadata is kept about feature edits, including date and time of last edit and the network user name of the operator. Group layers and multiple layers in the same workspace can be edited in this way. The multi-user editor uses a configuration file containing a list of data sources. Any MDB path listed in the configuration is treated as a multi-user data source and it can never become locked. The configuration can be located on a local workstation or placed on the server so that editing can be configured for a workgroup.

Show All / Show Selection

Enables the user to hide all unselected features in the map. The button toggles between this mode and showing the selected features highlighted (ArcMap default behaviour), and works on all selectable layers. Three different modes of operation are possible, for example when no features are selected in a layer, the utility can either show the layer or hide it completely. This removes the need to export and re-import selections for map production, and greatly improves the visualisation of queries.

Mini-Gazetteer

A lightweight gazetteer search tool, using a configuration file to predefine layers/fields to be searched, providing the user with a simple and fast navigation tool. Configuration can be local to each user, or configured centrally for workgroups.

Download Starter Pack Trial Version

Click here to download the "Starter Pack" which includes the above utilities. Installation instructions are included in the readme.txt in the download, and are shown below.

The download includes an unregistered copy of the xgArcApps "Starter Pack", with full instructions for installation and use. The unregistered extension may be installed for evaluation on up to 5 PCs. Licence packs may be purchased from the xgArcApps "About" screens. The multi-user editing functionality is limited to work on layers with fewer than 500 features, until a licence is purchased from exeGesIS SDM. Site licences and technical support contracts are available on request. There are also developer toolkits available for integrating the multi-user editor and a range of other utilities with applications - contact xgArcAppsSupport@esdm.co.uk for further information.
