Exegesis Spatial Data Management

Bridgend County Borough Council commissioned Exegesis to capture and survey a network of paths over the Kenfig Burrows Nature Reserve.

Central Bedfordshire Council have a number of volunteers who carry out tree condition surveys, recording their results in spreadsheets. Exegesis were asked to develop a tool to import these spreadsheets into their CAMS, used by the officers to manage their sites and trees.

Working with Powys Council, we developed a new module for CAMS to allow users to manage the Register of Common Land and Village Greens. This new module makes it easy for them to fulfil their statutory duties in this area. The solution integrates GIS mapping of the Common Land and Village Green parcels with full information on the land ownership, rights holders, rights particulars and more.

exeGesIS successfully incorporated the changes made by over 140 public path orders into the digital map layer, and linked the scanned order files to records in CAMS. This provided the client with an effective, efficient tool to help manage their rights of way.

This survey of around 140km of public rights of way in Wrexham marks the first use of our new CAMS Mobile solution on a large structured survey.

Ceredigion County Council are using CAMS to manage their Register of Common Land and Village Greens. Site boundaries are mapped and information held on ownership and the rights exercised across the sites. Because the system is shared with ROW staff, management of the sites can be integrated with access management.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority had a new footpath dedicated by a landowner. ExeGesIS were asked to capture the precise line of the path on the ground using GPS to add the route to their digital Definitive Map, held in their CAMS application.

The definitive map data relating to rights of way in Breconshire and Radnorshire was out of date, and exeGesIS was asked to assist Powys County  Council with two project to update and correct this data for Breconshire and Radnorshire, using data from multiple sources to do so.

Early in 2014 exeGesIS completed a base line survey of the 200 km long South Downs Way. We provided a website for online entry of condition survey information, which was uploaded directly to our CAMS software for analysis and reporting. National Park Officers were also able to assign additional tasks to volunteers through the website.

The Kintyre Way is a long-distance trail around the Kintyre Peninsula in Scotland, managed by a partnership of Argyll & Bute Council and The Long and Winding Way organisation. In 2013, exeGesIS assisted in setting up the management system for the trail, providing training to the trail managers and a full baseline survey of the trail.
