Exegesis Spatial Data Management

Cheshire West and Chester Council completed the task of creating a new register of locally designated wildlife sites. The new list was to be stored and managed in HBSMR, which had been in use by the Cheshire Historic Environment Record since 2002. exeGesIS was contracted to develop and install the necessary customisations.

exeGesIS developed a website to extend professional access to the Lincolnshire Historic Environment Record to district-council-based conservation officers. The website has been widely welcomed as the default source of historic environment data for professional use in the seven district councils of the county.

Working closely together with Norfolk Landscape Archaeology we developed the Norfolk Heritage Explorer, a sophisticated website making Norfolk's rich Historic Environment Record data accessible to the public. The website has recently been given a facelift, becoming the first of our heritage websites to use the mojoPortal CMS.

exeGesIS developed a content management system linked to an interactive website which allows the recording and exploration of the rich cultural heritage of the Hebrides. This work was comissioned by local history societies and has become a major resource for researchers and the public from all over the world.

The Heritage Gateway is an English Heritage website that allows users to search almost 60 resources from across the country. Exegesis has had a long involvement with the project and has developed solutions to allow publication of data held in HBSMR and to enable map-based searching.

Exegesis was selected to work with Exmoor NPA staff to develop the 'Exmoor's Past' website as part of the Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record (ENPHER) development project. This increased the searchability and range of publically available data, also presenting the information in an imaginative, attractive, user-friendly way.

This innovative project created a network of volunteer Heritage Stewards who carry out surveys of the survival and condition of Lincolnshire's heritage. These volunteers are trained to survey all types of heritage assets and feed the information into an 'at risk' database. Exegesis developed the web site for the project.

Bedford Borough Council commissioned the scanning of the paper files contained within their Historic Environment Record (HER), in order to reduce physical storage requirements and make the data available online. exeGesIS contributed towards this project by associating the scanned images with the relevant records in HBSMR.

Exploring Kent’s Past was a project that aimed to help people become involved in, learn more about and enjoy Kent’s rich heritage.  The project, which was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, began in August 2004 and ended in 2009.
 

exeGesIS was commissioned by The Highland Council to migrate their existing Historic Environment Record (HER) systems into our HBSMR application platform. With an area the size of a small country, a key part of this work was to publish the HER online, to make it more accessible to Highland residents and heritage professionals.
